Twenty seconds in the microwave and the little heart becomes a gentle warmth to place on a knotted tummy, your baby's or your own. Cold, it soothes bruises when baby takes a tumble, as well as headaches.
Amma Thérapie was founded in Quebec in 2015 by designer Marie-Jeanne Gauthier and her partner Sébastien Bolduc, an orthotherapist. The company, which marked its tenth anniversary in November 2025, also runs a wellness centre in Château-Richer. Its cushions are handmade in Quebec.
Format: 6 x 5 1/2 x 1 in., about 200 g.
Materials: organic pearl barley filling. The cover varies by pattern: 55% hemp and 45% organic cotton for the sand pattern; 100% cotton for the Croix, Arc-en-ciel, Népal, Forêt enchantée and Triangle patterns. For other patterns, check the label. The removable washable cover and the storage pouch are not included.
How to use: for heat, place the cushion on a paper towel and warm it in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds, depending on the appliance's power, or put it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper in a conventional oven preheated to 175 °F (about 80 °C) for no more than 10 minutes. Then move the grains around to spread the heat. Warm, it helps relax muscles and relieve colic. For cold, keep it in the freezer in an airtight plastic bag; placed upside down over the eyes, it relieves migraines.
Storage: protect the cushion from dust and set it on a clean surface. It cannot be washed in water: if it gets stained, rub the surface with a damp cloth. Throw it away if a child vomits on it.
Precautions: for external use only. Always check the cushion's temperature on the inside of your wrist before applying it, to avoid burns. Never use a gas oven. Do not use it on a premature or hypotonic baby, and consult an osteopath before using it to position a baby's head. Store it out of reach of children and never leave a child under 3 unattended with the cushion. Stop using it if irritation occurs.
