A box of 15 incense sticks to scent a room, in six fragrances. Each stick burns for 60 minutes or more.

Baltic Club makes them by hand in small batches in its Montréal workshop: raw wooden sticks are dipped in the house fragrance blends. Because the base is wood rather than synthetic charcoal, the smoke carries a subtle campfire note. According to Baltic Club, its sticks are formulated to meet Environment Canada health standards for volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

The six fragrances:

  • Coucher de soleil (bold intensity, 4 out of 5): top notes of wild berry, ripe plum and citrus peel; heart of neroli, white peony and water lily; base of amber resin, vanilla and musk.
  • Cascades (soft intensity, 2 out of 5): top notes of pink grapefruit, Italian bergamot and fresh ginger; heart of white spruce, cedar and conifers; base of sandalwood, forest floor and a woody accord.
  • Brise nordique (balanced intensity, 3 out of 5): top notes of mineral citrus and crisp air; heart of Douglas fir and iris; base of forest moss and damp wood.
  • Ambre et Jasmin (balanced intensity, 3 out of 5): top notes of bergamot, lemon zest and citrus peel; heart of white orchid, jasmine and French lavender; base of amber resin, Virginia cedar and white musk.
  • Fleur de Saule (bold intensity, 4 out of 5): top notes of green foliage and citrus zest; heart of violet, jasmine, geranium and honeydew melon; base of white musk.
  • Bois de Santal doré (balanced intensity, 3 out of 5): top notes of honeyed nectar, caramelized sugar and soft amber; heart of rose, cashmere accord and cedar; base of sandalwood, amber resin, aged soft woods and woody musks.

Format: box of 15 sticks; each stick burns for 60 minutes or more.

Materials: raw wooden sticks hand-dipped in fragrance oils.

How to use: light the tip of the stick, let the flame burn for about 10 seconds, then blow it out gently: the tip should stay glowing red and give off a thin stream of smoke. Place the stick in an incense holder on a flat, heat-resistant surface to catch the ash. To put it out before it finishes, dip the glowing tip in sand or press it against the holder. Incense holder not included.

Care: store the boxes in a cool, dry place to preserve the quality of the fragrance oils.

Precautions: burn incense in a well-ventilated room, never in an enclosed space without airflow. Never leave a lit stick unattended. Keep out of reach of children and pets, and away from flammable materials such as curtains or paper.

Origin: handmade in Montréal.
