TDN Creations: at the heart of business

TDN Créations offered minimalist jewelry made notably in yellow gold, white gold, rose gold and sterling silver. In this archive interview, founder Trang Dai looks back on her move from an office job to a professional jewelry practice.

From handicrafts to jewelry training

Trang explains that she has always loved experimenting with different materials: felt, silk painting, polymer clay, silver wire and crystals. After studying languages and management, she held a regular job that left little room for her desire to create.

Her first sales were to her colleagues. They allowed her to buy more specialized equipment, then to train at the École des métiers du Sud-Ouest de Montréal. Her online store was already up and running before she finished the program.

From a solo project to a business

Hiring her first employee was, in her view, one of the most important moments of her journey. This step marked the shift from a practice carried out alone to a business able to share out production and administrative tasks.

Creating and learning to delegate

At the time of the interview, Trang was working to document her methods so she could delegate more and spend more time creating. She also stressed the importance of surrounding herself with other artisans and sharing knowledge about trade shows, points of sale and production.

Goals expressed in 2023

The designer then hoped to increase the brand's number of points of sale and develop new collections. These goals are kept here as part of the interview, without making any assumption about the company's current situation.
