Update note: this interview was published in February 2023. The projects, points of sale and commitments mentioned reflect Moodgie's situation at the time of the conversation. The brand still has products currently available at Signé Local.
Moodgie was founded by Joël Gamache after a period of professional soul-searching. In this archive interview, he explains how his interest in candles became an entrepreneurial project.

A career change that began in 2020
As he approached thirty, Joël realized that his job no longer suited him. The pause imposed by the pandemic gave him time to learn about candle making, carry out his first tests and give candles to the people around him.
The interest his creations generated led him to officially launch Moodgie toward the end of 2020.
The workshop as a first concrete step
Getting the keys to his first production space remains one of the most memorable moments of his journey. For him, this workshop turned a project developed at home into a structured business.

Persevering without comparing yourself
Joël advised new entrepreneurs not to measure their progress solely by what other businesses post on social media. He emphasized consistency, perseverance and the ability to keep going despite rejection.
