Update note: this interview was published in December 2022. The recipes, projects and goals mentioned reflect Le Sublime's situation at the time of the conversation. Some of the brand's mixes are still available at Signé Local.
Le Sublime develops dry ingredient mixes for making infused rum. In this archive interview, founder Édouard Verhaeghe explains how a tradition he discovered while travelling in the French Antilles inspired his business project in Montreal.

Introducing infused rum to Quebec
Originally from northern France, Édouard settled in Montreal in 2020 to pursue a master's degree in renewable energy engineering. Familiar with infused rum from his travels and his home region, he began preparing his own recipes to share with friends.
Interest from the people around him, and then from some retailers, encouraged him to structure the project and create Le Sublime.

First markets as a turning point
Édouard pointed to his participation in the Jean-Talon Market Christmas market, in the winter of 2021, as one of his first opportunities to present the product directly to customers he did not know. These conversations allowed him to observe reactions and explain how the product works.

Developing seasonal recipes
At the time of the interview, the brand offered a regular range along with seasonal recipes. The founder wanted to keep developing new combinations of fruits, spices and aromatics.
